Xiamen
Gaoqi International airport is one of the five largest
aviation hub in China. There are more than 27 airlines
operating here. Its scheduled route network serves 62
domestic and international destinations such as: Singapore,
Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Jakarta and Osaka, Hong Kong
and Macao. The well-developed highway and express highway
system connects Xiamen with other parts of China, with
transportation companies operating passenger and cargo
services, including regular container truck service between
Xiamen, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Equipped with 81 berths of
different sizes the port of Xiamen ranks among the top six
in China, and also the pilot port between Taiwan Strait
issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of
Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. The port has
shipping lines to 60-odd ports in more than 40 countries and
regions. There are regular international and regional
shipping lines between Xiamen and USA, Germany, Belgium,
U.K., Netherlands, Japan, Southeast Asia, Korea, Kaohsiung
and Hong Kong, etc. In 1998, the port handled over 16.36
million tons of goods. The setting up of the united
inspection center of Xiamen port, realizes the assemble
service of customs, commodity inspection, frontier
inspection and foreign steamer agent. On arriving in ports
of Xiamen, the compatriots of Taiwan may directly apply for
one entry Laisser-passers and SEC tourist Visa will be
issued for businessmen and tourists from other countries or
region.
